Accountant

Summary:

The Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of CATCH. This position is responsible for managing all day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting the organization’s mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable:
    • Process invoices, expense reports, and reimbursements.
    • Prepare and process checks.
    • Maintain vendor records and ensure timely payments.
  • Accounts Receivable:
    • Record and deposit donations, grants, and other income.
    • Generate and send invoices.
    • Track and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • General Ledger:
    • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
    • Prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows.
    • Generate reports for management, board of directors, and funders.
    • Assist with the annual audit and preparation of Form 990.
  • Grant Accounting:
    • Track grant revenues and expenses.
    • Prepare financial reports for grantors.
    • Ensure compliance with grant agreements.
  • Budgeting:
    • Assist with the development and monitoring of the annual budget.
    • Track budget variances and provide analysis.
  • Other:
    • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
    • Assist with other accounting and administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct).
  • Excellent Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with grant accounting and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Form 990.
  • CPA or other relevant certification.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
